Gap #00279: Synchronous Replication Inconsistency - Suspended Device

Synchronous Replication Inconsistency - Suspended Device

Result: Data loss, increased time to recover

The signature

Replication Inconsistency - Suspended device

The impact
In the event that the disaster replica is needed for DR purposes, the disaster recovery replica will be unusable. Data will need to be restored from a recent backup, increasing the time to recovery.

Technical details
In this example, the production database consists of three storage devices.  The intent is to replicate these production storage volumes to the disaster recovery site. However, one production storage volume is in a suspended state and not being replicated.

Can it happen to me?
This gap can be created when an storage volume flagged for replication is added to an existing volume group, but the storage device is not establish to the replica device.
