A large insurance
service provider relied on his in-house disaster recovery
system to provide aggressive SLA to protect his critical
business services. His strategy called for bi-annual testing
of the critical business services, and as some of the tests
failed, he was looking for a way to improve his disaster
recovery readiness.
The IT infrastructure was based on two datacenters (production &
disaster recovery), EMC Symmetrix/DMX with SRDF/A replication,
and over 500TB of primary storage. The database infrastructure
was based on 12 Oracle 10g instances, protected via SRDF/A
replications. The server infrastructure included hundreds of
Windows, Redhat and Solaris servers.
During the evaluation Continuity Software used the RecoverGuard
product to assess the risks in the storage infrastructure. A
